Abstract
The European Research Network on “Automatic Fairing and Shape- Preserving Methodologies for CAD/CAM” (European Commission, DG XII, HCM Framework Programme) is conducting a benchmark experiment on the generation of fair curves and surfaces. The benchmark tests will seek to establish a state of the art evaluation of the quality of fairness achievable by current curve and surface fairing methodologies in view of different fairness measures and subject to a variety of geometric constraints. The results of the benchmark will be documented and will also be reported in overview at the FAIRSHAPE Workshop on “Creating Fair and Shape Preserving Curves and Surfaces” to be held in Berlin on 14-17 September 1997.
